• new-build; group developments and single dwellings
• re-working/refurbishment/conversion of existing houses; opportunities to improve and adapt living spaces
In both cases the principles remain the same: exploiting the potential of the site in outlook, context, and aspect primarily through space and light - the basic language of architecture. From that the structure and fabric evolve, the aim being for interpenetration of interior/exterior space: internal courtyards for individual houses for instance, penetrating the traditional enclosed box with natural light and external space.
Design should be inspirational, about timeless values vs. stylised aesthetic, endeavouring to push back the boundaries to more resonant experiences.
